[:en]The word “paliastom” originates from Latin and means “an old castle”. The lake previously was used for forestry and fishing and, presently, it is part of the Kolkheti National Park. Kolkheti National Park has a visitor`s center to find out more about the services the park offers.
Tours in the Pichori River Gorge and on Paliastomi Lake are permitted by both rowboat and motorized boats, and pontoon. There is also opportunity to fish here and participate in birdwatching. Some tours depend on weather and advance booking is recommended before arrival.
